BRAMPTON, ON. (Tuesday, April 28, 2015) – Red Star Brampton will play out the upcoming 2015 season in the BASL (Brampton Adult Soccer League). The upcoming outdoor campaign will get underway on the weekend of May 10 and conclude at the end of October. Each team will play a total of 14 games during the regular season.
The traditional post-season playoffs and a season-long cup competition will be played in the months of September and October, with playoff matches being played at the Creditview/Sandalwood Turf fields.
Red Star Brampton will open up its season against BFC at Norton Park on May 10 with kick off at 4:30 pm. In order to promote its Polish roots, the club will feature in the league as Czerwona Gwiazda Brampton (Polish for Red Star Brampton).
2015 marks the first year that the Brampton club has moved leagues, having previously been a franchise club of the PCSL (Polish Canadian Soccer League) for the last 3 years since 2012.
Red Star withdrew from the PCSL after the 2014 season.
Winning several cups and titles in the PCSL, the Reds were involved in a series of long and difficult negotiations with the Polish Canadian Soccer League last year regarding the terms and conditions of the club's continued participation in the PCSL.
Unfortunately, Red Star were unable to achieve an agreement with the league. As a result of this situation, Red Star Brampton did not return to the PCSL for the 2015 season.
For the time being, Red Star for the 2015 season will take part in the BASL while the club weighs its options going forward. In addition, the club will not field a Reserve Team for this year.
