BRAMPTON, ON - Red Star Brampton Soccer Club ended the season with a Fourth Place regular season and Semi-Final Playoff finish in the 2014 Polish Canadian Soccer League - the PCSL.
Red Star Brampton entered the 2014 with a young and inexperienced squad, featuring many rookies of it's U-21 team. Despite this, the team fared well and showed plenty of promise in the preseason. With a narrow 2:1 loss to OSL Ontario Provincial side Rest of the World FC (ROTW) and a 5:1 hammering against Eddie's Interpol, the new Red Star looked to be one with full of potential for a great season.
Once the 2014 PCSL season begun, the Brampton outfit were off to a slow start in the first few weeks. Fortunately, the team begun to gell and get more used to the level of competition. Red Star would soon find itself in a winning spree, with some impressive victories. Injuries unfortunately shook the team hard later in the season, with 15-year-old starting goalkeeper Damian Godlewski out with a concussion, midfielder Ben Claro facing a season ending ACL tear, striker Cris Saceleanu tearing his hamstring, among others.
Due to this, the club had to rely on it's Reserve Team to fill in the gaps made by the injuries. Regardless, Red Star managed to finish the season in the Top 4 Elite and progressed to the Semi-Finals in the PCSL Playoffs.
Zywiec, the official Beer sponsor of Red Star Brampton, has nominated the 3 top players of the team who excelled the most throughout the 2014 PCSL campaign. MVP James Charbonneau, Top Goal Scorer Maciej Michalec, and Best Defender Patryk Ambrozy.
The club would also like to thank it's other sponsors which the 2014 season would not be possible without: EuroMax Foods, Millennium Gardens, and Dr. Grazyna Wojnarowicz Dental.
