MISSISSAUGA, ON - Red Star Brampton Soccer Club has finished the 2016 indoor season as the Hershey D5 South Conference champions and the No.1 seed in the South Conference Playoffs. The Reds finally accomplished a division title after two years of falling short on results.
After facing regulation last year from Division 4, in what was quite possibly the worst season in club history, Red Star were dropped to Division 5 in the Hershey SportZone.
Starting off the season the Reds simply dominated. 2:0 and 8:2 victories were expected to set the tone for the remainder of the season, with the goal scoring proneness of Michael Kaminski, Maciej Michalec and Patrick Horszynski powering the offense.
The Brampton outfit went on a 8 game undefeated streak, looking virtually untouchable. However, midway through the season the team would eventually face their first loss of the year - a 3:1 upset from the last place seed. This result was an eye opener for everyone and only showed that nothing was yet won, and won't with such ease.
Subsequently after the loss the Reds managed to collect 4 points before facing two more losses in a row. The dog days of the season meant that anything could happen and a force once strong at the beginning was now facing trouble.
Fortunately, the Reds were able to amass so much points that regardless of the previous losses they remain in first place and secure the regular season title - a first for the club at the Hershey SportZone.
Red Star will now enter the post-season as the no.1 seed in the South Conference Playoffs. First post-season match will be played next Sunday.
